A vague sentence on the epitaph, a leaf and a petal of a flower on the tombstone give a feeling of simultaneity as a transcendental space which accepts the traces of memories of ‘my’ mind and time. 그가 40여 년 동안 줄곧 찾아내고 구현하고자 외길로 탐색해 온 궁극의 본질은 무엇인가. 비문의 흐릿한 문장, 비석의 나뭇잎, 꽃잎 하나에도 ‘내’ 마음의 기억과 시간의 흔적을 수용하는 초월적 공간으로 동시성(同時性)을 느끼게 한다. 바로 다큐멘타리(documentary)적 ‘History’연작에 담겨진 한국적 생명성이 그것이다

◇한국화가 권의철(權義鐵, Kwon Eui Chul)
화백은 1964년 홍익대 미술대학 동양화과에 입학하게 된다. 1974년 제23회 국전(國展)에 출품하여 입선하게 되는데 이때 그는 비구상 작품을 선보이기 시작한다. 이후 1984년 제30회 국전까지 7회 입선하는 기염(氣焰)을 토했다. 대한민국 미술대전 비구상부문심사위원장, 운영위원을 역임했으며 미술대전초대작가이고 현재 국전작가회 사무총장이기도 하다.
◇The Korean Painter, Sangsan Kwon EuiChul
The painter entered the Department of Oriental Painting, College of Fine Arts, Hongik University in 1964. He was awarded from the 23rd National Art Exhibition in 1974, and he started to present the non-figurative works at the time. Later, he had been remarkably awarded 7 times until the 30th National Art Exhibition in1984.
He is a former foreman of a jury and a committee member of the non-figurative area of the Grand Art Exhibition of Korea, and currently is the invited artist of the art exhibition and the secretary general of the Members Exhibition Republic of Korea.
